How-To: Ombre Lips

Here is a really cool trick you can do with your lipstick in your next photo shoot - ombre glossed lips!

This trick gives amazing dimension to your lips and and the gloss adds great shine - really making you pop and stand out in your photos.

How?

Step 1: Choose your coloured lip liner of choice, any colour you'd like, so as natural and subtle as you want with a nude or a bright pink like in the photo to the right.

Step 2: Line your lips with your lipliner and then fill in about half of your lips from your lip line but leave a small amount untouched.

Step 3: Take a light coloured eyeshadow in the same colour family as the coloured lip liner you chose. (Light pink or a pale nude/beige etc). Push the light shadow onto the inner naked portion of your lips and blend into the liner.

Step 4: Add a clear gloss on top to blend together and add shine! Add some shimmer for a night out or more dramatic look!

VOILA! You're done and have great 3-D looking lips that pop! This can be done with literally any shade so don't be afraid to try it out. It looks amazing with neutral colours and is more subtle that way so you can even wear it to a casting or go-see.

How to Style Bangs

Fall is fast approaching and that means bangs are back in season! Bangs are super sexy and in style for autumn seasons and I highly encourage you guys give them a try. I always go back to my straight across bangs in September. As a model of actress it's great to freshen up your look and update your photos every 6 months to a year and if you're due for new one's now is the time to try a bit of a new look without being too drastic in changing your hair!

Bangs are an easy cut and easy fix to grow out and they look fabulous and very high fashion. On the right facial and bone structure bangs can completely change your look for the better and could possibly start booking you jobs! Here are some ways you can style them if you're unsure or don't know how to wear them after you leave the salon.

1. COMB IT.
Comb out your wet bangs with a wide tooth comb. Easy!
2. PADDLE IT.
Hold the blow dryer above your head (in your right hand) and focus the nozzle downward. Blow the bangs to the left for 5-10 seconds using a flat paddle brush. Then, switch hands and blow to the right for 5-10 seconds. Your bangs should be slightly damp.
3. WRAP IT.
Wrap the center section of your bangs around a medium-sized round brush and hit them with the blow dryer from above. You’re going to be left with some crazy, voluminous bangs. However, by the time you finish your makeup and walk out the door, they will fall into place leaving you with full, sexy bangsNote: I only use a round brush in the center section; not the sides.
4. HIT IT (& QUIT IT).
But for real – one last quick hit with the blow dryer from up above and you’re done.
Are bangs in your future? If you have them, how do you style them?

Nails for Casting's and Go-See's

It's great to be up to date with nail trends and colours but for casting's and go-see's it's best to be as natural as possible. Here are two great neutral nail colours that look beautiful on anyone and will spice up those plain nails that have nothing on them, while still adding that elegance of simplicity.

My two personal favourites are listed below. The Essie polish has more brown tone's that works great for any warmer skin tone's and the OPI polish has more peach hue's that is great for us girl's who are on the paler side. Both look good on anyone, so use your discretion when choosing a neutral polish that will be a huge staple for you for your upcoming casting's or go-see's.

Remember, having a neutral canvas for casting director's to look at is best and will help you in booking jobs as they are better able to see you in the role or as the character they have set in their mind for the project. Minimal makeup to go along with these neutral nails is a MUST as well!

Enjoy and happy nail polish shopping!

Beauty Tip Thursday: Home Remedies for Dull Hair

Brighten Locks with a Tea Treatment

It's important to have healthy and shiny hair so that you can stand out in your photo's and impress clients and no one likes having dull, lifeless hair.
Soak your strands for high-wattage shine and rich color, whatever your hue.

What You Need
2 tea bags (chamomile, a golden mix for blondes; rooibos, a rich orange for redheads; or black tea, dark for brunettes)
2 cups water

1. Once a week -- or whenever you feel you could use a shine boost -- steep tea bags in boiling water for 10 minutes. Let the liquid cool to room temperature. (In a rush? Refrigerate it.)
2. Pour the mixture over wet, just-washed hair, rubbing it through the way you would shampoo.
3. Leave the rinse on for 10 minutes; wash and condition to seal in the silky, glossy results.

Beauty Benefit
"Tea lowers the pH of hair, closing the cuticle for extra shine, softness, and manageability," says Philip Pelusi, owner of Tela Design Studio in New York City. Tea's natural pigments can also neutralize brassiness for more flattering color.

Beauty Tip Thursday - The Classic Red Lip & Winged Eyeliner

The classic look made famous by Hollywood star's like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in the 50's is the pin up girl look - bold red lips and bold black eyeliner. This is a look that is timeless and absolutely gorgeous.

Being in the entertainment industry this is a MUST on your list of looks to know how to rock. This look is great for photo shoots and can really play up your features and make you stand out from the crowd. Hopefully rocking this look can help your photos be attention grabbers and get you some auditions.

Here's how you can achieve this look:

1. Have a red lipstick that compliments your colouring (if you don't know how to choose a red be sure to consult with a professional at M.A.C or Sephora etc) and a lip liner a couple shades darker to go with it. Lip liner's are essential for red lips!

2. Black gel eyeliner (with an angled liner brush) is what I recommend as it's easy to apply and gives a great polished finish.

3. A neutral beige toned eyeshadow for your lid's and a light brown shade for the crease of your eye.

4. A great and bold voluminous mascara to give you some fierce lashes!

5. A couple bonus items that could further your look would be a good bronzer and highlighter for contouring and highlighting the angles of your face.

Here is a video I did of a red lip tutorial that can help you further.

Beauty Tip: Easy At-Home Makeup Protector

Makeup can last all day by using a common household product as a makeup protector. This magic ingredient is believe it or not - CORNSTARCH.

Having a flawless face is important being in the entertainment industry, so anything that can help us look our best is key! Having foundation that lasts all day and doesn't streak or sweat in the heat is a huge asset for any girl, especially those acting or modelling.

Simply mix it with a bit of your foundation and you're set! This is completely safe and shouldn't irritate your skin. However, if you have sensitive or acne prone skin be sure to test it out on a smaller area first just to be cautious. This will help your face stay dry, keep off the sweat for summer & be non greasy all day long.

Beauty Tip: At Home Blackhead Miracle Remover

Here is a great tip for how you can get rid of stubborn and unattractive blackhead's at home. It's important being in the entertainment industry to have great skin, especially on your face. Having blackhead's isn't fun so this can help you get that smooth, clear skin to keep your skin looking beautiful and healthy for any casting's or go-see's. YOU are your product, so be sure to invest in and take care of yourself!

Use fine salt and backing soda! Save your money and stop buying those blackhead removal creams, strips etc and use this at-home tip.

How?

When the time is up, remove the cotton pad and voila! You should see your gross blackhead's no longer on your skin but on the cotton pad. It's THAT simple and work's wonders!

BEAUTY TIP - Fresh, Soft Lips

Beauty Tip: Make Your Eyelashes Grow

Wash an old mascara wand and an empty or old nail polish container. Fill with: 1/4 of the container with Castor Oil, 1/2 Vitamin E Oil, 1/4 Aloe Vera Gel. Mix the concoction together as well as you can with your mascara wand, and apply a light layer to lashes (or brows) every night before bed. Castor oil thickens your lashes while aloe vera gel lengthens. Vitamin E accelerates length. Give it about a month for results and you should have beautifully longer lashes!

Beauty Tip: Aloe Vera as a Foundation Primer

Foundation Primer Alternative

Use Aloe vera gel as face primer before applying foundation. Use a few drops smoothed evenly over your face and let dry. This makes a great prepped surface for makeup application at a fraction of the cost of what you'd pay for a store sold silicone foundation primer. Aloe vera has no threat of smothered pore consequences and side effects like breakouts that the silicone primer options have. Those can range from $20-$80 a bottle as opposed to using Aloe vera for around $5 a bottle.

It's important in the modelling and acting world to have great skin as YOU are your investment. This tip could help give you that glowing skin and flawless foundation application to make you stand out and look fresh in a casting/go-see. Get healthier and glowing skin at a fraction of the cost.
